City, regional governments lead the way on real food, climate action, as national governments lag

A report by the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems (IPES-Food) has called on national governments to pay attention to the pioneering efforts of cities and regions in transforming food systems to combat climate change. The report highlights the weak and fragmented action at the national level, with food systems often overlooked in climate negotiations and plans. It urges governments to support and scale out successful approaches taken by local governments, as their emission cuts go beyond those pledged by national governments.
